This is a walk through on how to set up your Facebook Ads Manager, so that you can be in control of your business page. This is where you can change the Currency, Timezone, Payment Method, and Account Spending Limit on your business page account. This should take about 10 minutes tops to set up. There are screenshots from Grimy Studios’ Facebook business page below each section to help you follow along. You can also view the video version titled “How to Setup My Facebook Ads Manager” on the posts page of GrimyStudios.com.
Open up your Facebook business account on a desktop computer. Go to the three dots next to Share. It’s the same on your mobile device, but there are many more features available on your desktop. (Phones are for checking, but computers/tablets are for doing.) Click to open the More Menu and hover down over “Ads Manager”, click to open your Ads Manager.
Once you click to open your Ads Manager, you will see all of your ad accounts listed. This shows your account ID number, which is auto generated by Facebook and you may need for more advanced programs in the future. Choose the account you want to go to.
<<Note>> If you do change your time zone or your currency in the next section, Facebook will automatically create you a new Ad Account! While you can still access the ads previously ran and see the data, you will not be able to run any more ads from it and can’t build on your existing data. If you recreate the ads in your new Ad Account, the data will start from scratch. Make sure you’re only editing your currency or your time zone if necessary.
Once you open your Ad Account, you will see your account info. Here you can change your Ad Account name, Timezone, right beneath that is Currency. Confirm that your business information is correct. Business name should be your actual business name, but the Account Name can be more of an identifier. If you have different locations you can differentiate between the ad accounts by specifying “Grimy Studios Mobile” & on another “Grimy Studios Pensacola”. You do need your tax ID number handy and if you ever need to delete an Ad Account, “Deactivate Ad Account” is at the bottom. Make sure you save your changes before moving on to the next step.
Next are Payment Methods and Spending Limit. On the left side menu you’ll find Payment Settings. Here you can see your current spending. Under that is your Payment Method which can be a debit or credit card, online banking, Paypal, or if you have a Facebook Ads coupon. Keep payment methods up to date to avoid ad interruptions. I suggest keeping 2 forms of payment on your ad account at all times. You can set one to primary and have a backup. Finally, let’s set your Account Spending Limit. Your limit is the total you are willing to spend on all ads combined within the period, not on each individual ad, that is determined at the Ad Set level of your Campaign. This is important so that you may budget appropriately for your business.
Now you should have your Facebook Ads Manager set up, correct Timezone & Currency. Your Payment Methods are up to date and your Spending Limit is set.
